The FP6 Integrated Project MOSES’ main goal is a blue print for developing an innovative European network of Motorways of the Sea (MoS) as part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

The focus of the project is to efficiently link maritime transport with all other surface transport modes by transforming port terminals into seamless motorway junctions where the traditional boundaries between the modes are eradicated. Key ICT elements include;

• provision of information flows to match the physical goods flows in the design of seamless service and transhipment provision with enhanced use of tracking and tracing systems
• an information platform to support the use of MoS Quality Criteria and KPIs including SPIs by stakeholders involved in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of MoS and intermodal transport chains.
• Interoperability and Standardisation as required across the various elements of the transport logistics supply chains/networks associated with the development of successful MoS. Integration of transport needs into the logistics planning process creates the need for:

                - Automatic routing decision support within a network of available intermodal services;

                - Automatic planning capabilities for logistics and fulfillment processes using MoS;

                - Automatic collaborative planning facilitating that consecutive transport operators are able to align their planning with each other;

                - Automatic collaborative planning facilitating shared provision and procurement of services;
